Oct 11-Happy Thanksgiving!!

We have shifted our dinner to next weekend, but the turkey waits in the freezer, the cranberries are bought.... If you are celebrating this weekend, give thanks for all of the excellent care Connor is receiving, the excellent benefits that Kirk's job provides, and all the support we have to get us through each day!
Connor's numbers are still high, they've adjusted the amount of slow acting insulin and we are now factoring in blood sugar levels to the calculations.
A dietician is stopping by again today to go over calculations with us.
Connor has been giving himself the injections, so I did the one this morning, and Kirk is coming up to do one this afternoon.

Sadly they want us checking his sugar at midnight and 4 am, so they can track how the slow acting insulin is working. Good thing I'm used to getting up early!!
With all that, they want to monitor him through dinner tonight and then will hopefully let him sleep in his own bed tonight!!!
Connor is so hopeful! This morning he waited an hour to eat to get his blood checked, then waited on the insulin order to go through.  It's the little things!

Update, he's walking out of the hospital now, he's with Kirk (hence no pics!) He'll be home for dinner. It won't be turkey, but we'll enjoy it just as much next weekend ๐Ÿงก
Home and sitting outside, visiting with a friend! So happy!

  1. A turkey dinner will taste even better next week when blood levels are controlled. We are very thankful for the care Connor is getting, not only from his dedicated oncology team, but from the best Mum, Dad and sister a kid could have. ❤

  2. Happy Thanksgiving ๐Ÿฆƒ. Turkey next weekend just extends the holiday!! I am sending a BIG thank you, out to the universe, for Kirk’s job, Connor’s care, and all our friends and family that support us through big and small - family, by blood or by choice, is what makes everything worthwhile! Fingers crossed for Connor’s own bed - midnight and 4am wakings are more tolerable from home! Lots of love and wishes from the Kinlin household. ๐Ÿ’•☘️
