Kirk took Connor in for his procedure (s!) today. I was thankful to receive updates throughout the day.
They went first to the Valerie Center to get his port accessed. Infectious Disease Dr was there and decided she wanted to do the biopsy of his leg herself. They were discussing admitting him, but Valerie Center let them use their treatment room and thankfully they did it as outpatient in the afternoon.
After being accessed, they headed down to Radiology. They took him in on time, and the placement of the stent went smoothly. Before they left recovery they had drained 950ml. (That's 4 cups of liquid for the Americans)
Sadly they said it would be several more days, up to a week, before he really starts to feel better. The site is sore, and it's quite a bit over to his side, and a bit uncomfortable for him.
They did the biopsy in the afternoon, and sent samples off to pathology and infectious disease. It would be helpful if it was the site of his infection and we know where it is and hopefully how to deal with it. Connor still thinks it's a zit, and Kirk thinks it's an ingrown hair.
Tomorrow we are at the dermatologist to have his rash looked at.
We are back in the clinic Monday for blood work, and they are going to go over with us how to change his dressing at the drain. (So helpful!) If his counts are good, they'll start chemo again on Thursday.
Still lots going on!!

  1. More nursing skills for you and Kirk! So much going on! Thank you for the details and information. I really hope Kirk and Connor have the right lump diagnosis! Another Dr visit tomorrow then hopefully long weekend to rest up before Monday clinic. My love to all of you on this challenging journey🤗💕

  2. I like Kirk and Connor’s diagnosis for the leg lump - you definitely deserve one solution to be easy. It was hopeful that Connor would feel immediate relief after draining the cyst ... just one more week - Ugh. Glad they didn’t have to admit Connor, so he can still be at home and in his own bed. Big hug. 💕K/C/M/L

  3. Man - a litre of fluid... I wish for tricorders and full body scanners like they have in the movies. Would make real-time diagnosis much easier...
